WHO WE ARE
Belgrade Photo Month is a permanent team of 10 people, but also a great group of contributors who are passionate about art and photography.
BPM 2025
Belgrade Photo Month is an international festival dedicated to promoting photography through educational and artistic programmes. Held annually in May, the festival features exhibitions, forums, workshops, and discussions with artists and critics.
Our mission is twofold: to showcase Serbian photographers internationally and to bring international photographers to Belgrade, fostering an environment where future opportunities and collaborations can emerge and to encourage the exploration and appreciation of photographic arts.
The festival welcomes professional and amateur photographers, as well as all those passionate about photographic art, working alongside our curators.
In June 2025, we concluded the 10th edition of Belgrade Photo Month, which also included the two successful editions of BPM Book Week (2022 and 2024). To mark this major milestone, we are proud to say that Belgrade has finally secured its place on the global photography map. Belgrade Photo Month is also one of the founding members of the International Photo Festival Association (IPFA).
Belgrade Photo Month – Our Values
Belgrade Photo Month is a platform that celebrates photography and photographers, encourages collaboration and creativity, and welcomes complex narratives and dialogues in a spirit of collaboration.
Our mission is to encourage the exploration and appreciation of photographic arts.
Equity and Inclusion
We are committed to gender parity in our programming, striving for a balanced representation of male and female photographers, as well as non-binary and underrepresented voices.
We actively encourage proposals from diverse cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
Community engagement
At least 30% of our exhibitions and activities feature artists living and working in Serbia or connected to the region.
BPM believes that photography is best experienced in a wide variety of settings. We bring photography into public spaces and non-traditional venues, as well as galleries. We engage the community not only through exhibits, but through collaborative practices including educational opportunities, workshops, panels, and discussions.
All exhibitions produced by BPM are 100% carried out by local companies.
International Collaboration, Decentralisation and Dialogue
We foster partnerships with festivals and institutions. BPM is a space where borders dissolve and photographic voices from different countries and contexts meet, including diverse communities, supporting local initiatives, and ensuring that contemporary photography is accessible throughout the country.
Support for Emerging Photographers
Since our first edition, we have maintained a strong commitment to supporting young and emerging talent.
We believe in nurturing the next generation of visual storytellers and giving them space to grow within the international photography community.
PARTICIPANTS
Who can participate in this event: art galleries, art and cultural institutions, which tend to organize photography exhibitions or movie screenings, groups interested in organizing workshops or any other photography related activities.
Participation requirements: Just the commitment to work in the same direction as Belgrade Photo Month. Nothing more.
What we offers to the participants: The promotion of the event in Serbia but also in international photography webs and magazines. We will make a catalogue with all the details regarding the participants, including a map with all the related events and places around the city and other relevant information as well.
CONCLUSION
We’re not sending a starship to the moon, we just want to put Serbia on a photography map of the world!
